Welcome to Sjøholt, welcome to Stolt Mat shop where you can buy locally produced food products. And almost all products in the store are from small-scale producers from the food county Møre og Romsdal in Norway, who are proud of their products.

You are also welcome to our Stolt Mat café where we serve coffee, tea, juice, cakes and homemade snacks. Many say that Stolt Mat is the coziest café in the whole of Ålesund.
Our café and shop are easy to find and located close to Coop in the center of Sjøholt in the municipality of Ålesund. In Stolt Mat’s shop and café you will also find the local tourist office Visit Sjøholt: www.visitsjøholt.no. In other words, it is really worth visiting us.

HOW IT ALL STARTED
We got the idea to start a local grocery store with products from small-scale producers from Møre og Romsdal on March 15, 2015, on Gert’s birthday. Meanwhile we startet ordering products from various manufacturers in the county of Møre og Romsdal. We also had to buy shelves, cash registers, freezers and refrigerators. At the same time, Gert made a website, designed and ordered business cards. Two months later, on the 16th of May 2015, Stolt Mat opened the doors for customers.
CAFE SJØHOLT
Because we wanted to do something more, we applied for a serving license in 2019 and we opened a little nice café, where we serve coffee, cappuccino, espresso, tea, with or without homemade cake, almond bar, ice cream or a piece of candy. We make also small simple and delicious dishes with products from the store and our own garden, for example wraps with smoked salmon from a local farm. Here you will find our menu, in norwegian only. In the cafe we are happy to explain the menu. We speak english, german, dutch and norwegian.
